THE DROUGHT IS OVER

Here I am! Back by popular demand. Well, a few of you actually seem to miss my irreverent food ravings, and that kinda makes me feel all nice for a minute, and then guilty for not putting out enough.
Sorry. I'm getting older, I'm usually in bed by 10:30, and I was starving myself until Sanjaya got voted off American Idol, so what can I say. Then there's the vacation planning, NBA playoffs, the freeway caving in, Sopranos on Sunday, and my 35th birthday coming up (reservations at Quince!)...so it's always something keeping me away.

All excuses aside for now, Aaron and Kate cooked up a fine GO WARRIORS meal Sunday night (epicures can also be basketball fans thankyouverymuch), and after dinner we screamed and high-fived our way to sweet victory. Chips, dips, grilled meats, Kate's colon-cleansing cabbage salad,
brownies, macaroons, and I'm still full today. Aaron's slam dunk barbecued ribs were sending off some game-winning mojo. Damn those reeyubs were GOOD. Finger lickin and how. Yan can cook, and so can Aaron. Thanks guys! There they are right there, the cute couple.

See, Aaron was supposed to write my first official guest blog about Nicaraguan food, but since he didn't, I'll just have to write my own after I go there in June! I'm just practicing my Spanish now. Bueno.

Oh yeah, two things I've been loving in my belly lately:
Fra'Mani salumi. Everybody knows I'm a cheerleader for Italian meats, and this stuff is old-fashioned hog-handling at it's finest. Paul Bertolli, who's a famous local chef, started the company about a year ago and it's probably the best dry salami you'll ever taste. Unless you find some old grandpa in Italy who's making it, so just let me know.

For the veg-friendly folks, there's SOYRIZO!. I can't eat salami all the time - gotta look after my aging buns y'know - and this stuff tastes almost like the real Mexican chorizo deal, only with way less grease and indigestion. It's another California company called El Burrito, and I get it at Whole Foods. Just try it. Your heart and stomach will thank you. Muey Bueno! (Spanish for Beginners...watch out Nicaragua!)
