IN MY BELLY

D and I just treated ourselves to an "IT'S ALMOST THE WEEKEND" lunch at Coco500 near my work on Brannan.
Some highlights:
1. Strawberry lemonade. Sweet summer! The bartender muddled some super ripe strawberries and ice in a glass, and had just made the lemonade this morning with cane sugar syrup and lemons. She told us exactly how to make it, and gave us some popsicle-making tips too. No Country Time lemonade here! Which of course is special in it's own right - like when you're driving through Tennessee in August, and you stop at the Piggly Wiggly for some pork skins and a sickly sweet refreshing beverage. Holler. You can take the girl outta the South, but you can't take the South...well, you get the idea.
2. Shaved wild mushroom salad with fresh herbs, avocado and manchego. Enough said.
3. Ricotta ravioli with mint, peas and ham. The ham was from this San Rafael company called Hobbs. It was chunky and looked like real pig muscle, not all weird and pressed like the stuff at Subway. Hey, sometimes you need a little more than the $2.99 six-inch special for lunch. I'm just sayin...
